WWU - When Your Trainer Turns 40Easy Weight Loss

I can be a bit dense sometimes, which was the case last Thursday when I walked into the gym for my group workout.  They write the names of everyone having a birthday that week on the front door, and I saw Brad's name there and that he was turning 40.  Inside, there were all kinds of decorations with 40 on them - how festive, I thought.   We warmed up and then split into our small groups where we got our assignments, as I like to think of them.  First up was 40 calories on machines - you could switch off machines if you wanted, but you had to burn a total of 40 calories before moving on to the next spot, where you probably guessed it but I didn't, we had to do 40 reps of this and 40 reps of that...I swear, it took me until we were nearly finished to connect the dots with that one.  Reminds me of my dumb idea to run my age, only I don't think Brad had to do the workout - he's a smart one, he is.

Yesterday was more fun at the gym; one thing I'm learning is that my balance isn't great when we're doing one-legged things - I wobble a lot.  Luckily, I'm getting a lot of practice with improving my balance, so there's that, haha.  We got to put in requests for Thursday's workout so we'll see if mine is chosen - I picked the slidey thing, as I call it.  I believe the official name is the slide board and again, that is something that makes you work on balance as well as makes your outer leg muscles burn - win win, right?

I haven't gotten to run in nearly a week because it just won't. stop. raining.  I think today is supposed to be the last day of rain for a while, and I hope so because I need a dry road to wear ::drum roll please:: my new old shoes!  Hoka brought back the original Clifton, which was the best shoe ever that they proceeded to make terrible with all of the subsequent models - I haven't bought a Clifton since they had the model 3, and they are on the model 5 now.  But for whatever reason (low sales, perhaps?) they offered the OG Clifton for sale and I bought a pair:
HELLO MY LOVELIES!

These are the shoes that made me fall in love with Hoka - super cushioned and flexible, plus the tongue is not padded, which feels so good on my left foot with the arthritic bone spur on top.  Anything that doesn't put pressure there is my ideal shoe, and these are perfect.

So I ordered the one pair, and everyone around me keeps asking why I didn't order more.  I might, but I hope that they get such a good response to this model that they make it in more colors and have it be a permanent part of the Hoka line.  I will definitely keep an ear to the ground - er, an eye on the internet - and if it looks like they are closing out this model again, I'll buy another pair for sure to have in reserve.

Now, if I can actually get to run in them...
