OK it was an unofficial 5K, but still, Andi and I met up at 7:00 am yesterday to welcome 2019 with a 5K. Making the run good was the very cool weather - we had a feels like temp of 37 degrees, which I'll take any day. Plus the sun was rising so we got to see the road/sidewalk for a change. Andi is faster than me so while I was chasing her by a couple of steps for most of the run, this was my fastest 5K (and fastest mile) since I reset my Garmin last summer; apparently running with a faster person can help make you faster. I'd say who knew, but I knew...I just wasn't willing to push myself until recently.
The only thing that could have been better was the state of my lungs - I have bronchitis and on Monday started using a steroid inhaler along with an asthma inhaler to help with the wheezing; obviously one day's worth of use didn't cure me, so that was a bit of a struggle. But still, I was really happy to get up, get moving, and then spend the rest of the day alternately doing laundry/resting, putting away Christmas decorations/resting, knitting/resting...you get the picture.
Oh, Jeff ran 22 miles yesterday. He just HAD to show me up! Nah, that was his last long run before the Houston marathon - now they get to start their taper.

Workout update: I made the wall...er, window! December was the first month for me to join the Perfect 10 club, meaning I made at least 10 workouts last month. It helped that I added in the Monday workouts, so hopefully this will continue to be a thing for me each month.
Spelled correctly and everything!
A woman from our group watched me take these pictures and I sheepishly told her it was my first time on the window, and she said she did the same thing, so I feel more normal about being excited over this accomplishment.
As usual, our workout on Monday was challenging but fun; I'm looking forward to seeing how my strength and overall fitness improves over the coming year. I am really glad I went back to BCS Fitness - it's making a huge difference in me with both my physical state as well as my mental state, and those are very good states to be in.
