WWU - Extreme SpringEasy Weight Loss

While it currently feels like summer, we still have three weeks to go before it's official.  And it's been the weirdest spring here in Texas - we've had below normal temps that were great for having the house wide open during our renovation, but also made for me pulling out my long sleeved running shirts in April, which was unusual.  And now, it's just plain hot, with not much cooling down overnight.  There's nothing like opening your front door at 5:15 in the morning and getting hit with a blast of hot and humid air to make you rethink going for a run...but hey, as long as I'm up, I figure I might as well run.  Still, I could do without the humidity being in the high 90+ percentile - I know, keep dreaming.

After the upheaval of the renovation, combined with a general malaise about running, I'm trying to get back into the swing of things.  My mileage has been really low, and I know I can do more than I have been, so I let Diane dictate the distance for our run on Saturday.  She wanted to do 4 miles and while I wasn't really thrilled about that, I did it.  It was hot - 75 degrees when we started, with 96% humidity.  Because we run just before dawn, humidity is at its highest for the day - you'd think we could wait a couple of hours when it drops into the 80th percentile, but then we're dealing with the burning hot sun, which we vampire runners like to avoid.  So a hot and humid run is our standard.

Anyway, we ran a slow pace but the good news is that I actually ran 4 miles.  I don't think I've gone much over 3 miles for a month, so this was good.  I would love to think that by running 4 or 5 miles on Saturdays, that will translate into making our 2 mile runs during the week easier, but I don't believe that will happen...truth be told, every run will be hot and humid from now until November, so I better get used to it.

After we ran, we hit up Blue Baker - we were given a freshly-baked loaf of ciabatta bread along with a plate of frosted brownie ends, but I didn't eat any of that - I was so full after eating my breakfast bagel that nothing else was tempting.  The heat plus running kind of kills my appetite; funny thing, Jeff said he could have stopped at half a bagel sandwich but please note that we both soldiered on and finished ours in their entirety - hah!  Still, we might try splitting one next weekend, like we used to.

Since I didn't have any cute baby pictures to add to this post, I made Diane pose with me for a post-run selfie after yesterday's sweat-fest:
Not nearly as cute as our Renegade babies, but we tried...
