FMM - I Just Meant to Move a Couple of Bowls...Easy Weight Loss

I'm still figuring out how to best place my Fiestaware in my new kitchen cabinets.  We use some items all the time and some not so often, and because ol' shorty here has to stretch to reach into the cabinet on the far left side, I decided to move some bowls that I have an excess of - no, wait...there is no such thing as an excess of anything Fiesta - into that cabinet.  I removed the dishes from all of the cabinets and stacked them on the counter and on a whim decided to sort everything out into warm and cool color sets.  That was fun!  I really love my Fiestaware, have I mentioned that lately?  I decided to put all of the warm colors into the far cabinet because I don't seem to reach for them as often as I do for a cool color.

This was the result, and yes, I was extraordinarily pleased with how it came out:
I stacked everything in the same color order, as much as possible - I don't have all the colors in all of the dishes.  I know, what a travesty!  But I do love this, and it's much easier to grab a bowl now that there's not so many stacked in one place.

Of course I can't leave well enough alone, so I also rearranged everything on the countertops.  Side note, this was a great opportunity to clean all the way back to the deep recesses, which doesn't happen as often as it should:
Changed up the canisters, swapped out our old toaster for Allie's toaster oven that she wasn't using, and I came up with a fun way to display my Fiesta salt and pepper shakers!
This is an old wood Coke box that I've had since I was a young teenager.  I used to have it hanging on my wall and would put tiny collectibles in it.  I've been wanting something wooden for the counter to offset all of the stone/tile/ceramics, but never found anything that I loved enough to buy.  Then I remembered I had the Coke box in the attic and voila!  The shakers were a perfect fit.
View from the top.
I finally gave into our left-handedness and moved all the utensils, plus the salt and pepper that always ends up on this side of the counter when we are cooking, to the left side.
Right side of the stove - I keep thinking I might want a larger bowl to hold all of the vegetables, but I'd have to move something to make that happen, so I just pile everything up in one area.

As you can tell, I'm easily amused - arranging things is my, er, thing.  I love how you can move around the stuff you already own, without buying anything new, and make it look so different.

FO Friday - Sometimes it's fun to knit a quick and easy project.  About 30 minutes before we were going to leave for our three-hour drive to Dallas, I was looking at new patterns on Ravelry and this one caught my eye.  It helped that I had the same yarn in my stash that was used for the project, so I quickly grabbed it, some needles, and started knitting when we got on the road:
Dashboard shot - I got about 3/4 of it knitted as we drove, which was pretty good because oftentimes knitting while driving makes me carsick.  I only had to set it aside once for that reason.
I finished it on the drive home!  Pattern is Odessa Cowl, but I am calling mine the Dallas Cowl.  Yarn is my favorite Malabrigo Rasta, colorway Indiecita.

I don't have any pictures showing how it looks while worn, so I went old school and had my model get to work posing:
He still has the model emo look down pat, I see.
I bery handsome.  But dis cow is choking me.

If I was freezing, I could wear the cowl doubled up, but like Paco, it would feel a little tight on my neck.  This used the entire skein of yarn and *sob* I am now down to one skein of Rasta in my stash!  I like having this yarn on hand for times when I want to knit a quick hat.  Looks like some yarn shopping is in my future!

We are running a St. Patrick's themed 5K tomorrow and I'm not sure what I'm more excited for, the race or the fun shirts Diane and I will be wearing.  Aw, who am I kidding - it's the shirts!  Recap to come on Wednesday.

Have a great weekend - and don't forget to leave me a question on this post, if you have anything you'd like to know about me that I haven't already shared over the years.
