A knitted and felted trophy wall! This is the only kind of animal trophy wall I like to see...and it was very cute.
The shop is Hill Country Weavers; they've recently moved to a bigger location and the new store is light and bright and very easy to wander through. The employees were all so sweet and helpful, too - really makes me wish the shop was in my town, instead of a two-hour drive away.

I had an eye doctor appointment on Wednesday afternoon, and afterward I zipped over to the grocery store. I thought it was a little warm when I walked from my car across the parking lot to the store, but it was breezy so it didn't seem too bad. When I got back in my car, I saw that my car's thermometer read 90 degrees - what?? I swear, it didn't feel like that. But check out the humidity level:
So THAT'S what a "dry heat" feels like, eh? I could tolerate this. Too bad we don't see this low of humidity levels very often.

Speaking of eyes and vision, I was having some massive irritation in both eyes a couple of months ago, and it got bad enough that I finally went to an ophthalmologist (as opposed to an optometrist, who you see for glasses and/or contacts). Turns out I have a thing called Pinguecula, or bumps on the white part of my eyes, which get extra irritated when allergens are strong (check, it was early spring and everything was blooming), or when the eyes are dry. What causes it in the first place? Sun damage. I rarely wore sunglasses until four years ago, when I got contacts. Call it the curse of having to wear glasses - it was all I could do to get a new pair when my prescription changed; a pair of prescription sunglasses was out of the question in terms of affordability back then. So, the lesson here is, make wearing a pair of polarized sunglasses a priority, if you aren't already doing that.
Along with the irritation caused by the Pinguecula, my contacts have been randomly falling out of my eyes. It happens mostly when I'm running, or have just finished a run - I'll be standing there and *boop* there goes a lens. My optometrist is having me try out a new type of contacts made for *ahem* older, dry eyes. I mean, COME ON, is this necessary? I guess it is. But geez, even though I don't feel like I'm older apparently my eyes are acting like senior citizens. I'm crossing my fingers that the new contacts work, as I am really getting tired of the irritation and lens loss from my other ones.

I told Rosalie yesterday that I was fired from the gift shop - that's right, I fired myself. You see, every morning we have to count the money in the drawer and total it to a specific starting amount, which the people who closed the afternoon before had to leave in the drawer - I guess it's sort of a double check thing, because the lazy in me says, hey, they left X amount of money, why should I count it again when there's been no sales since they closed? But I follow protocol and count the money. We have to add up the change and the bills and we were off by $10 yesterday. So we recounted everything and were still off. Finally, I got out my phone to use the calculator and hey guess what? I can't add. We actually were correct with our count. Sigh...
